Common FAQS:

What are the costs for membership?

Required Expenses

  • New Member Fee ($300): This one-time fee is paid to the national Sigma Nu organization and covers your initial registration. The recruitment team will guide new members through the registration and payment process during their first week. This fee is standard across most fraternities.
  • Quarterly Operational Dues ($960): These dues fund fraternity activities, including brotherhood events, formals, ritual supplies, academic support (tutors), philanthropic endeavors, and other operational costs. They cover everything beyond room and board, directly supporting the fraternity’s programs and activities. Payment is managed through OmegaFi. An account will be created for you, and you will receive instructions for setup. All fines are also handled through this platform, so regular checking is essential. To avoid card processing fees, payments can be mailed directly to OmegaFi or set up via direct deposit. For members living out of the house (typically freshmen, sophomores, and juniors), operational dues are reduced to $400-$500 per quarter. Seniors, who generally do not live in the house, pay a $300 fee.
  • Quarterly Rent (approximately $1350): Rent is paid quarterly to the Theta Lambda Housing Corporation, the property management company that maintains the house. Our property manager will provide a year-long lease for signing. You will then set up a tenant portal on the OmegaFi site for all rent payments. New members will receive assistance with this process.

Can I bring a car?

The fraternity has a parking lot on its property. Parking in this lot is available on a first-come, first-served basis. While street parking is available in the vicinity of Greek Row, it is often limited and cannot be guaranteed.

Summer Live-In Options

Sigma Nu offers members the option to live in the fraternity house during the summer for a fee (approximately $900). This fee is subject to change based on market rates, as determined by the Alumni Volunteer Committee (AVC).

No Cash Policy

For the safety and security of all financial transactions, Sigma Nu does not accept cash payments. This policy helps protect against the potential mishandling of funds. All payments must be made by check (payable to “Sigma Nu Fraternity”), credit/debit card, or electronic transfer. These methods provide a clear and traceable record of all transactions.
